Hello there! We wanted to introduce ourselves. Our names are Rebeca Ruiz & Barbara Cardeso, and we are the directors of services at My Therapy Center, but please, call us Becky and Barbie.

We’d like to take this opportunity to let you know a little bit about us and what brought us to the field that we are more than proud to be a part of, the field of speech language pathology.

We have known one another since childhood, and went through school together earning both of our degrees from Florida International University. It was at the end of our bachelors degree studies, that we knew we had found a career field we could proudly spend the rest of our lives in, so we both decided to commit ourselves to the pursuit of our masters degrees.

Once that task was complete, and after a few years of providing our services through other facilities, we realized we wanted to make our own mark in a field that we had been students of for so long. That is, when we sat down over a cup of coffee, and decided it was time to start our own therapy practice, and it has been one of the best decisions either of us have ever made, and we have never looked back.

A passion that we both share is holistic wellness, which includes the maintenance of physical, psychological and spiritual balance through exercise and nutrition, as well as a focus on positive influences in our lives. This is something that, since day one, we have always wanted to translate directly through My Therapy Center, Inc. You can trust that when we are developing a therapy plan, we are thinking of every possible approach, and focusing on the most positive, encompassing methods for you and your loved ones. The issues that we deal with are issues that affect not only those who are diagnosed, but their families as well, and that is why we also offer our services of education, consultation and advocacy to the family members of those we serve.

One of the reasons we decided to open My Therapy Center so close to our homes is our commitment to our community. We have spent our lives in Miami-Dade county and are proud of the beautiful community that we are a part of. Providing speech and language therapy is a job that when carried out properly, has a positive effect on people’s lives, and we made a conscious decision to have that positive effect on the community we are so proud to be a part of.
